Musculoskeletal Pain

Virtually everyone’s body will complain from time to time with aches and pains. Growing pains are very common in children. These are recurring lower extremity pains, generally in the evening. Although they are benign, they can be very distressing for children who have disrupted sleep while crying with leg aches and for parents who worry the pains represent a serious underlying problem.

Musculoskeletal pain is a common problem among young athletes. Some of this pain is from normal wear and tear, some represents overuse to the body and must be alleviated to prevent further injury from developing, and some represents more serious disease processes.

Unfortunately, rare chronic aches and pains of youth can represent serious illness such as Juvenile Arthritis, bone or muscle tumors, joint disease such as Legg-Caffe- Perthe’s or Slipped Capital Formal Pediatricians at Canyon View Pediatrics have done extensive training to distinguish the serious from the benign and the dangerous when it comes to musculoskeletal symptoms. We have in house lab and xray services to aid with diagnostic work up. Our doctors can help relieve annoying pain, keep you playing, and get you to the right specialist when needed.
