Breastfeeding –
Breastfeeding has many benefits for your baby. Breast milk is rich in nutrients. It has antibodies, which help protect your baby against infections. It also helps prevent your baby from having allergies. Babies who are breastfed are less likely to become overweight, develop diabetes, or get childhood leukemia later in life.
Breastfeeding also has benefits for you. Women who breastfeed also have lower risks of type 2 diabetes, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
If you are having trouble breastfeeding we offer assistance to mothers.
Breast Cancer –
Breast cancer begins in breast tissue. Most of the tumors that develop in breast tissue are benign (not cancerous). Some breast tumors are cancerous, but have not yet spread to other parts of the body. The most serious type of breast cancer is invasive, meaning that the cancerous tumors have spread to other parts of the body.
With increased awareness, detection and treatment, breast cancer death rates are declining. Regular screening mammograms and breast exams (both self-exams and exams by your provider) can help find breast cancers early.
