Cessation of periods, or menopause, is a natural occurrence of aging. Some women get through this time of life with minimal inconvenience or discomfort while others find this transition to be physically, mentally and emotionally challenging. Hot flashes and changes in bleeding patterns are very common and may begin several years before periods actually stop.
